The musical talents that arise from New Orleans have given the world a flavorful taste of how art and entertainment can truly impact a soul. Daphanne Poole, a vocalist extraordinaire, grew up in the Lower 9TH Ward of New Orleans, Louisiana. Embodying her homegrown roots of musical talent, Poole’s passion for singing started at the meek age of four years old, since then she has gained exposure in the Gospel genre through soloist, choral directing and theatre performances and opportunities. She was granted the opportunity to study Musical Theatre at NOCCA while delivering soulful melodies in the high school chorale at G.W. Carver High School.
Poole introduced her talent for theatre production by co- directing Vinnette Carroll, “Your Arms Too Short to Box with God”. Destiny then propelled her in to the company of local Gospel artist, Raymond A. Myles, which allotted her a position in his musical group, The RAMS. Daphanne attended Grambling State University in Louisiana on a vocal scholarship. Her passion for cultural arts and entertainment blossomed her into her life’s calling of Gospel entertainment. Dee influences and vocal inspirations include Sarah Vaughn, Mahalia Jackson, Betty Carter, Phyllis Hyman, Peabo Bryson, Daryl Coley, Marvin Winans, Paul Morton and Helen Baylor. Dee’s extensive and impressive resume includes: backgrounds and demo sampling for Stellar Award and Grammy Award winning artists and producers such as, Bishop Paul S. Morton, Oleta Adams, Michael Robinson, Greater St. Stephen Full Gospel Mass Choir and The New Orleans Symphony. Daphanne’s daily affirmation is reflected through biblical scripture. As an organic musical talent, she allows God to use her as a catalyst of change in the music industry by delivering heartfelt melodies, which mimic the sounds of Jazz and Blues, but extort the praises of God with her deep and clear contralto voice. “I Can Do All Things through Christ which strengthens me. And I believe as long as I stay true to myself and with others, continue to love my family, attend, participate and tithe at my church and remain humble, All things that GOD has in store for me will not only come to past and will work in my favor.” – Daphanne Poole
